Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Toni Gonzalez Collins is a Mexican American Sportscaster. She is currently employed by ESPN as a anchor for SportsCenter as well as occasionally hosting SportsNation. She was hired by ESPN in the year of 2016. She is the daughter television reporter Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta has been bilingual since her age of nine. Her skills were instrumental in helping her get her first position as production assistant for Univision Miami, where she worked with the producers of programs including Nuestra Belleza Latina and Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud. When she was in St. Petersburg, she was later hired by the CBS station as an sports reporter. In 2009 she moved in Rio Grande Valley to work as a journalist for KNVO TV 48 Univision & Fox2 News. In 2009, she relocated to Rio Grande Valley, Texas and became an editor for KNVO48 Univision as well as Fox2 News. She also filled in for weather anchors, sports anchors and forecasters. She then anchored and reported on Univision's Dallas affiliate Deportes 23 where she was granted more responsibilities. She also did segments on the Major League Baseball's ALDS ALCS and World Series the Dallas Cowboys the NBA postseason as well as the Finals FC Dallas and the Dallas Stars. She produced Univision 23 Accion Deportiva Extra as anchor. She also served as anchor for the sports segment of Despierta America Deportes morning show. In similar roles as the show's magazine Primer Impacto and for UniMas Network's Contacto Deportivo. Antonietta Collins was born and raised in the city of Veracruz, Mexico. They eventually were moved into Mexico City where she was born on 22 November 1985. There is also an older sibling. In 1992, the family settled in Miami after relocating out of Mexico in the US. In 1992, the couple divorced then shortly thereafter in 1995 she remarried Fabio Fajardo, a naval engineer who passed away in the year 2006 from kidney cancer. In the course of a family holiday in Ohio, the young Collins was able to take a job along with her sister. Antonietta was a senior in high school but she knew exactly what career path she was looking for. While deciding if Mount Union would be a good fit to her needs, Antonietta visited the university. She loved the campus. It also gave her the degree she wanted. She graduated from high school and enrolled into media school at the university. The professor she had was Mark Bergmann, who managed WRMU FM, and was student in her class, formed a lasting relationship with the student. The passion he had for journalism as well as confidence in her own abilities inspired her. In turn, she was determined to achieve his standards and not disappoint him.
